The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, robot hoover and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum cleaner vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the automatic vacuum and mop robot's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
